Maya
Tucked away on 1st Ave btw. 64th and 65th Streets, this modern Mexican restaurant offers an interesting Queso Fundido as an appetizer. I have never had queso quite like this before, but it was really good.

To drink my friends had the special Margarita of the evening, a blackberry margarita while I had a glass of red wine sangria. For dinner I had the Ensalada con Almendras (mixed greens, cranberries, caramelized almonds, goat cheese, and spicy balsamic vinaigrette). It was very good and the spicy vinaigrette wasn't spicy of all!

Rosa Mexicano
Meeting a friend here after work on Friday was a great idea. The bar area was crowded but we were able to sit on an ottoman while we waiting for seats at the bar to open up. First we ordered drinks (The famous Rosa Mexicano Pomegranate Margarita & the Red Wine Sangria). Once we moved to the bar we ordered appetizers. We shared the Tacos de Queso con Nopales (Pan-seared Mexican cheese topped with cactus, onions and peppers. Served with warm tortillas)and the side of Elotes de la Calle (roasted corn kernels w/ queso fresco & chile powder).

The food was unique, the drinks were nice and strong and the atmosphere couldn't be beat!

Circus
This is a Brazilian restaurant located on 61st Street between Lexington & Park Avenue.
The presentation of the dishes was well done and the food was pretty tasty. I had the Salada Tropical (mixed greens w/ Tropical Fruit and Aged Sherry Vinaigrette) and side of black beans. If I were to ever go back I would get the Moranga- Acorn Squash stuffed with Shrimp, Hearts of Palm and Corn (without the Shrimp- for myself).
Although I do not think I will be going back! As the crowds came in late Saturday evening the small restaurant needed our table and had the nerve to ask us to hurry up and pay so they could seat those who were waiting for a table. Our party of five had reservations, ordered 2 bottles of wine, and even ordered dessert. After enjoying ourselves for just a little over an hour and being asked to leave?!?! Needless to say, we were no longer impressed with this restaurant.

Zoe

I have only had dessert here (Almond Tart- it was good but too heavy), but I really want to go back and try their other yummy-sounding menu items! Zoe also hosts a variety of events- for example, this Thanksgiving they're offering a 3-course Holiday menu.

Ollies Brasserie
A group of us went here for a friend's bday dinner. We went on a Thursday night around 7:30pm; it wasn't crowded when we arrived but by the time we left there were a lot of people throughout the restaurant and at the bar.
This Asian restaurant features Cantonese and Szechuan dishes and sushi. Dinner was great, the main dining room was a little loud but very friendly staff. The revolving feature in the ceneter of the table would be ideal for a group of people sharing their orders.

Mesa Grill
Owned by the Food Network star Bobby Flay, this Southwest-inspired restaurant is gerat!

I went for Sunday brunch in August and loved reading the creative menu. For brunch I ordered a caramelized greatfruit with a strawberry on top but the variety of omlets the rest of the party ordered sounded fabulous.

Ice Cream & Desserts!
Ciao Bella Gelato is made right here in NYC offers amazing flavors. So far I have tried Malted Milk Ball with mini malt balls throughout the creamy treat. I have also tasted the beautiful Blackberry Cabernet. With over 100 flavors of gelati, sorbets, and frozen yogurts you won't be disappointed. There are several locations within the city and thankfully the Italian ice cream is also offered in many NY grocery stores!

Emack & Bolios is absolutely fantastic! Once again I was totally impressed by their creative flavor menu! I visited the 73rd W. Houston St. (@ W. Broadway) location and had the Black Raspberry Chip frozen yogurt! Loved it!

Crumbs is a great bakery that is dangerously too close to my apartment! The cupcakes aren't just gorgeous, they are moist and delicious! I have tasted the raspberry cupcake and the vanilla buttercream cupcake.. both are fantastic. But I have personally ordered the Caramel Apple cupcake. The white buttercream frosting was delicately decorated with a caramel swirl. When sliced in half I found an apple pie-like filling in the center that really topped the cake! After taking a break from blogging for 2 months I am ready to start up again, but this time with a change of focus. Despite my love of celebrity life I have decided to gossip about all things New York. People reports that Sir Paul McCartney, 63, and Heather Mills,37, who have been married for four years, are separating.
