Cafeteria NYC

What a fabulous spot, and it's open 24/7! Perf! Even though I don't like to repeat restaurants this may need to be a late night stop whenever I'm in Chelsea (17th St. & 7th Ave.)!

Despite its name, Cafeteria has been serving gourmet comfort food since they opened their clear garage-type doors back in June of 1998.
Four amazing ladies from M.I.S.S. Crew and I had lunch there this afternoon and loved it! Even though the hot spot is famous for their mac 'n' cheese we all decided for other delicious options on their menu including the Tomato Basil Soup with a Grilled Cheese Crouton (so good, and clever concept!), Yuca fries, Veggie Burger with Fries, Country Breakfast (two sunny-side up eggs, cheese grits, sausage, buttermilk biscuit and mixed greens), and Silver Dollar Pancakes (fresh berries and Chantilly cream).
All in all, this was a fun spot with great food at pretty reasonable prices.

Soho Park

Soho Park is a restaurant inside a space that looks like a greenhouse in the middle of Soho (on Prince St. and Lafayette). It's a perfect little neighborhood spot for any meal of the day- Mon-Saturday they're open from 8:30am until midnight and on Sundays from 10am to 8pm. I recently stopped into the restaurant for lunch on a rainy afternoon while shopping in Soho. Situated inside a greenhouse this spot is perfect for any weather and still lets you feel like you're outside.
Not only does their menu offer tasty comfort-type food but it also features wine, beer, and handmade sodas and shakes. On the rainy, chilly spring day I had the bowl of Roasted Tomato Soup without croutons but asked for shredded cheese on the side and it was no problem!
Soho Park also has unique events Wednesdays through Saturdays, check them all out here.

Great N.Y. Noodletown

Apparently recommended by GQ magazine this authentic noodle house in the heart of Chinatown. With chickens and ducks hanging along side the windows, Great N.Y. Noodletown is a place I would have never gone to by myself but worth the experience in the end. I may never go back but at least I can say I've truly experienced an authentic Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Vegetable Dumpling soup and the Sauteed Bok Choy. The soup was actually really good.

I should also note that we ended up at Great N.Y. Noodletown because our first choice, Barrio Chino (253 Broome St.) was no longer in existance but was also recommended by GQ mag recently. We were standing right in front of the location and it was toally not there! So disappointing and what's even worse is that NYmag.com and Menu Pages haven't updated their posts.

Freemans

Dining at the NY hotspot usually means you'll be waiting for up to 2 hrs. for a table... unless, that is, you get there right as their dinner service is beginning (6pm). Arriving early enough, two friends and I were seated at a prime table, getting a view of everyone who came in and all those waiting at the bar. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive while we debated over what we wanted to order. We finally decided to order the Hot Artichoke Dip with Crisp Bread as an appetizer, which was fluffier than most artichoke dips I've had which was great! For dinner we shared the soup of the day- butternut squash (so good!), and two salads that we shared- I couldn't find them on the online menu but they were good!
(End of Freeman Allye; off of Rivington between the Bowery and Chrystie- it's a bit hard to find, but worth the search!)
